The American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians offers national locations for Phlebotomy Certification.
Certification through this program takes one full year as a part-time phlebotomist or just six-months for a full-time phlebotomist. In order to finish the Phlebotomy training program successfully, students must complete an accredited phlebotomy training program and must perform at least 100 documented and successful venipunctures. Certification also requires five documented skin punctures. The exam fee is $55.00. The American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians offers Phlebotomy training programs in: Phlebotomy, Electrocardiography, Paramedical Insurance, Nursing Cross Training, Medical Assistant Cross Training, Point of Care Module Training, and Patient Care Technician.

To become a Phlebotomy technician, students must have at least one year of phlebotomy experience including both venipuncture and dermal punctures. Documentation of at least 100 clinical hours, 100 successful venipunctures, and 10 successful dermal punctures are necessary to take the 2 hour examination online.
